Nocona Cowboy Boots
Way back in 1925, Enid Justin started the Nocona cowboy boots company. Her father, the legendary H.J. “Big Daddy Joe” Justin
came to Nocona, Texas from Indiana to set up the Justin boot company and his daughter wanted to carry on his tradition in the city of his
choice. Enid started in the boot making industry at the young age of 12, and worked with Big Daddy Joe for twelve years till his death in
1918. She took a loan of $5,000 and set up shop with seven workers when her brothers decided it was time to pack up the family business and
move to Fort Worth, Texas. A rare breed – a businesswoman – in those days, she had to consistently deliver quality as good as her late
father’s to bring in the buyers. In addition to Nocona cowboy boots, Enid made 16-inch “lace up” boots for oil field workers that could last
in the harsh conditions of the job.
To promote the company’s rising reputation on the nationwide level, Enid sponsored a Pony express race that started in Nocona and ended in San
Francisco, California in 1939. In 1981, the Nocona boot company merged with the Justin boot company, and the next year, Enid stepped down as the
president and CEO of Nocona boots. The best fits are provided by the comfort oriented designing and techniques. Features such as the signature
