Double H Cowboy Boots
The path to success of the swashbuckling Double H cowboy boots has been smooth. Back in 1955, the H.H. Brown Shoe Company
purchased an unused shoe factory in Richland, PA to turn it into a storage area and manufacturing facility in that region. The
Richland Shoe Company continued in its namesake town and resumed fabrication of cowboy and work boots. Soon after set up, a rival company
launched something known then as the ‘harness boot’. H.H. Brown retaliated by creating the ‘snoot boot’ on the same lines, and to reduce costs,
it was produced at their Richland facility. The snoot boot formed the complete production line at the Richland factory premises. Thus began the
story of Double H cowboy boots.
Gradually, western style boots were the long standing fashion of the times, and this very same Richland Shoe Company was original maker of the
cowboy ‘safety toe’ boots. These boots created the currently customary Class 75 ANSI standards for safety footwear by being the first boot to
make the grade. When computerized decorative machine stitching was introduced into the shoe market, the collection was updated to include the
elegant cowboy boot. By 1981, further expansions in to a plant at Womelsdorf, PA increased the production capacity and the storing capabilities
of the company. In 1993, the H.H. Brown name underwent a change to a more Old West style name, inspired by the long history of the company in the
business of making cowboy boots and Double-H cowboy boots were born.
In 2001, times changed and the Ice collection was launched. Ice is a collection of work western or Double-H cowboy boots that feature pull-on
style and lace-up boots with the latest resilient Ice bottom and Double-H’s patented AeroGlide 7 comfort system. In the past 5 years, the great
success of the Ice collection led to the development of the new Oak Ice and Black Ice styles, a very trendy new look for the company. Further,
even greater emphasis was placed on total comfort for feet on wearing the boots. Ever innovative, the company’s latest technology offering is the
Pillow Cushion, incorporated into the latest Ice line boots.
A growth-oriented company always, Double-H bought out the Acme Boot Company in early 2002 and created a separate collection of boots for all
ages and genders, carrying on the Acme brand name. In 2005, the Sonora line was launched. Sonora is a line of cowboy inspired high fashion boots
designed for ladies. This line did extremely well and has gone into a further season of editions for women and has added on men’s Double-H cowboy
boots for the late 2006 season as well. A fresh collection based on the work western lace-ups is due to hit the market in the new Ice range.
Available for an average discount price of around $100, Double-H cowboy boots are a good pair of comfortable and well reputed shoes to purchase.
With kids’ and women’s lines as well, there is a wide selection of rugged and useful footwear rolling out everyday.
